Nils Meyn has been a PhD candidate in the Research Training Group “Configurations of Film”. since 2023. Nils completed their master’s degree in “Film Culture: Archiving, Programming, Presentation” at the Goethe University Frankfurt, a program in cooperation with the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum. Nils received a B.A. in Multimedia Production at University of Applied Sciences Kiel. In 2022/2023, Nils received a research proposal scholarship from the Gutenberg Graduate School at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz to prepare for their doctorate. Their dissertation deals with the material and affective history of videotape using the example of the porn film collection at the Schwules Museum in Berlin. In addition to their research, Nils is also a volunteer at the Schwules Museum, where they are co-facilitating workshops on the porn film collection.
