Inhalt
This course invites participants to reflect on the environmental impact of Al and to experiment with more sustainable artistic practices. Al generated art, while often celebrated for scale and spectacle, can consume vast material and energy resources. Yet, alternative approaches suggest that"small is beautiful" and "enough is enough" can become guiding principles for creative work. Through discussion and practical exercises, we will delve into concepts such as perma-computing, semantic prompting, and low-tech aesthetics, alongside inspirations from the slow movements in food, technology, and design. Participants will be encouraged to think about Al not only as an artistic tool, but as a cultural practice that can either reinforce wasteful values-or help shift us toward ecological responsibility. As a practical outcome, each participant will create a short film or a music video that embodies these principles. Working with intentional limits-such as minimal data use, reduced computational intensity, or embracing slowness in cinematic form-participants will explore how constraint can become a source of creativity. The resulting films will serve as experiments in sustainable aesthetics, demonstrating how computer art can flourish within boundaries while sparking reflection on our relationship with technology, ecology, and culture.
