This is an introductory course on video production. The students will learn the fundamentals of digital video making and editing. The course intends to illustrate how to capture, edit and export video using non-linear editing software. The students will identify image and sounds that create impact, emotion, meaning and work on final group projects throughout the semester. Final projects will include audiovisual essays and video art projects.Theme: Acts of Solidarity – Imagining Collective Futures
In a time marked by wars, displacement, censorship, and deepening social divides, this year’s course explores solidarity as both a political necessity and a creative practice. Through screenings, discussions, and hands-on video work, students will examine how moving images can reveal, challenge, or inspire collective action—from everyday gestures of care to global movements for justice and equality. We will investigate how media shapes our understanding of political events and how audiovisual storytelling can amplify marginalized voices or imagine new forms of togetherness. Students will produce short video pieces that respond to current crises and reflect on what it means to stand with others today, asking how video can become not only a depiction of solidarity but an active expression of it.
