Camilo Porras Sandoval has been an academic staff member and doctoral candidate at JGU Mainz since 2020. He studied communication sciences and audiovisual production at the Universidad de Costa Rica and at FAU Erlangen, and received his master’s degree in Media Dramaturgy at JGU. For his master’s graduation project he developed the transmedia series “Sebastian ama el drama/Sebastian liebt das Drama” and examined gay masculinities in Latin American web series. The thesis was recognized as an outstanding master’s thesis by the Faculty 05 – Philosophy and Philology. He also worked on documentary projects in Costa Rica and in the organization of the ATX Television Festival 2017 in Austin. He works in the program selection of the film festival “Días de Cine” at the Deutsches Filmmuseum (Frankfurt am Main).
