Fabian Kling has been an academic staff member at JGU Mainz since 2022, where he mainly teaches in the Media Dramaturgy master’s degree program. As a doctoral candidate, he is working on the ZDF editorial office Das kleine Fernsehspiel. In 2024-2025 he was an associate member of the Research Training Group “Configurations of Film.” Since 2024, he has also been part of the Digital Cinema Hub (DiCi-Hub) research project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, which deals with digital tools and methods in film studies research and teaching.

Kling studied Media Design (B.A.) at the DHBW Ravensburg until 2016 and worked in advertising after graduating. In 2017, he began a program of study in Film Studies (B.A.) and Media Dramaturgy (M.A.) in Mainz, both of which he completed in 2022.
