Inhalt
Television and the city have a complex relationship both in terms of production and representation. They are manufactured in the process of vast perceptual and experiential reservoirs of our social history. They are also the outcomes of the industrial and social transformations and have socio-political connections. In this course we will question and analyze urban depictions of TV series. We will explore both Western (e.g Berlin, London, Paris, New York, New Orleans) and non-Western (e.g. Istanbul, Beirut, Cairo) cities' representation, from the perspective of different disciplines - television studies, urban sociology and cultural studies. In our study on urban spaces, we will look at how images suggest and indicate underlying meanings related to social, cultural and political aspects with television's forms of representation.Termine
